Operation Of The 1,000 Follows A Day Limit

At https://support.twitter.com/articles/15364# we are told:

“Following (daily): The technical follow limit is 1,000
per day. Please note that this is a technical account limit only, and
there are additional rules prohibiting aggressive following behavior.”

Does anyone know if this a 24-hour rolling window? Or a calendar day?

If it’s a calendar day what timezone is used?

The Twitter REST API rate limits are based on a rolling window so I would guess posting tweets would be too.

I think you’re right.

I have a simple Python/tweepy application that I use to manage just my own Twitter account and I’m now logging the different types of API calls the application makes. I’ve just got the “Unable to follow more at this time” message after following around 1,150 user in the last 24 hours.

To confuse things this is also counting follows outside of the application i.e. via twitter, com and also via statusbrew.com. I think I’ll start just logging the follows via the application.

The 1,000 per day follows limit doesn’t seem to be account based. I can still follow via statusbrew.com so in part it must be ACCESS TOKEN based?
