oAuth with PIN and Direct Messages

Hi,

I am using PIN based oAuth in a desktop app and whilst I can read the timelines, I can’t read direct messages.

I have the app set up correctly for read, write and direct messages in the settings and I can get a read/write and direct message token for my own account, but when I open a browser for the PIN I see on the user authentication page displayed that the app doesn’t have permissions for direct messages.

Is access to direct messages disallowed when you use PIN oAuth?

OK, I think I know why - I am using authenticate, not authorize, so need to change my app…
