Number of tweets that can be retrieved for a keyword

Are there limits to the amount of data that can be pulled for a keyword search .
We are developing a tool for client but we have limited API calls. How can we increase the limits .

What API are you actually using?

For the Streaming API, there is a limit of tracking up to 400 keywords on a continuously-connected stream. Too many reconnections will lead to rate limiting.

For the Search API, you can make up to 180 requests in a 15 minute window, with an arbitrary search string.

If you need more than this, consider the Gnip products.
