I created a new bot this week to publish golf content. It tweets and retweets maybe 5-10 times per hour so not much. The bot works fine but I’m getting no engagement and when I search for any of the content from the tweets no results show in Twitter search. Why is my bot being filtered out completely?
New accounts with relatively high posting rates and low followers tend to not be very prominent. Sometimes it takes a while for your tweets to show up in Search on the web, as the web search is optimized for relevance and is not a complete index. The v2 API Search is however - but that’s a different thing. The general solution for bots in this situation is to post less, and gain more authentic interactions with people over time.
Thanks. So do you think I’d be better disabling retweets for a while and just let it post tweets? Also is there a general rule of thumb about how many times per day it should tweet with not many followers?
Yeah, maybe retweets are not as good - for brand new bots with low followers, there’s no general rule of thumb for how often to post - but the post must be useful - if people are responding and engaging, that’s good - if not, that’s not so good. I would focus on quality over quantity initially. But all this is just guesswork anyway.
It’s good quality content from RSS feeds. I’m not sure how I can get engagement when the tweets are now completely invisible.
