No access to https://stream.twitter.com/1/statuses/sample.json

Hi,
Just few hours back was trying
curl -u USERNAME:PASSWD https://stream.twitter.com/1/statuses/sample.json
however always got error in response:

Error 401 Unauthorized

HTTP ERROR: 401

Problem accessing '/1/statuses/sample.json'. Reason:

    Unauthorized

What’s up? Is there any disruption or changes due to API 1.1?

Basic Auth support for streaming was turned off with the API v1.0 shutdown. You’ll need to use OAuth to connect to the streaming API now.

I should point out that since you’re using curl, there’s an oauth-compatible curl-like program named twurl: https://github.com/marcel/twurl - you’ll just need to pass an extra flag to specify a streaming host:

twurl --host stream.twitter.com /1.1/statuses/sample.json
