We’ve just deployed a set of small fixes (including the issue with escaping single-quotes in Tweet text), and vertical buttons are now back to being 62px high. Sorry about that slipping through, and thanks for your patience.

The similar problem that’s being commented on—the cropping of text in buttons in some languages—is a known issue as well, and we’ll have an update about that and why it’s currently there in the next day or so.

The absence of the vertical button from the configuration is just that: We’re under the impression that demand for the vertical style of button has declined, and given the new Hashtag and Mention buttons (and large size buttons) we’ve announced today, we’ve given the space in the configuration tool over to the new models.

However, that does not mean that support for vertical buttons themselves is going to be deprecated or removed from widgets.js. It remains documented in the Tweet button developer documentation, and of course there are plenty of buttons in the vertical style in the wild.

Hi Zimo, there’s a run down of the new Twitter for Websites features in Brian’s blog post today (https://dev.twitter.com/blog/tweets-and-buttons), but in short: The new buttons do away with the full-image sprites we used to use, which means we can internationalize them more easily, and much faster than before. They’re also faster and more accessible. The design is cleaned up a bit too, and the Follow Button and Tweet Button designs are now unified.

Most of all though, they support our brand new Hashtag and Mention buttons, and the new large size buttons. Check out the button configuration at http://twitter.com/buttons to see them all in action.

to solve it, the dev’s can change style for:

.btn .label{
padding: 0 3px 0 19px — to 0 3px 0 17px;
}
solve the problem of “r” disapearing of the button’s container,
because we can’t change the styles of a IFrame.

Actually the style of “tweet” text is very bad and broken.
It’s OK in Explorer, but bad in Chrome and FireFox.

The new button is still cut-off on the right side for me on Chrome. Is this going to be fixed? It’s broken on Twitter’s own site, so I know it’s not my implementation.

It appears a fix was pushed. Now the Tweet text spacing on the button is reduced. It doesn’t look great (letters are jammed together), but at least its better than before. Thanks.

Javascript version doesn’t work either… Is there no way to have a vertical follow button? Why? It’s virtually the same with the tweet button… It should work…
