Need Help please

Hey all, Sorry if this has been repeated or in the wrong area… Im a noob.
Studying development and were trying apis now. Ive hooked up to a couple simple ones. (Instagram, flickr, tmdb) When i get to twitter im stuck from step one. The documentation seems like a maze to me… I have my key and app has been accepted btw. BUT I need to know.
Twitter supports json but not jsonp…(i think) I need to know a few things…
Do i need to program in php with the twitter api because of the non jsonp format? (never done a php api connection)
If i just want incoming tweets from certain people does it support jsonp?
Is there some REALLY SIMPLE tutorial to get hooked up to it?
I want to just follow certain people and have their tweets on my site. (poker players for specifics)
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks Jason the noob

Yes the Twitter API supports JSON and technically it supports JSONP but you should not use it since it would compromise your application secret.

The easiest way to get started with PHP is TwitterOAuth. Example code to get tweets posted by a specific account:

$connection = new TwitterOAuth(CONSUMER_KEY, CONSUMER_SECRET, $access_token, $access_token_secret);
$statuses = $connection->get("statuses/user_timeline", array("screen_name" => "twitterapi"));
