My Player Card validates via the Validator tool, but then gets rejected by the Approval team? :(

Hi,

First of all, thanks for taking the time to review our applications.

I’ve submitted a few cards for approval, for a few different domains that we use. Each time I use the validator tool, I get “green” lights all the way for all standard tags. However, each submission I send in gets rejected by the approval team w/ the following message:

“The URL you provided for … did not validate. Please make sure the page contains valid metadata, then reapply for a Twitter card.”

I’m confused - does the Validator Tool not check the basic metadata tags? Can I have some more insight as to what I’m doing wrong, the actual error/problem, rather than the generic message above?

We got the same message, however the problem appears to be that our URL isn’t loading securely even though it shows https. don’t know if that’s your problem but it’s worth checking it out. I should mention that the validator shows all green for us too - so this issue isn’t picked up by the validator. We may have other issues too but this is the first one that was pointed out to us by the Twitter person.

I think the buttons will cause it to get rejected based on the policy below:

Do Not:

Attach additional interactivity outside the video or audio player (e.g., non-standard buttons or banners).
Build end-to-end interactive experiences inside the video or audio player unrelated to Player Card content, such as the following: purchasing, gaming, polling, messaging, and data entry. Instead, build these interactive experiences with our other Card types or enhance your Player Card content with links to your website or mobile application.

Your experience will not be approved until you remove the buttons.

Furthermore, the Twitter Card may have one or more of the following reasons:

The twitter:app:id:iphone tag has the following error: value is missing
The twitter:app:id:ipad tag has the following error: value is missing
The twitter:app:id:googleplay tag has the following error: value is missing
The twitter:app:url:ipad tag has the following error: value is missing
The twitter:app:url:googleplay tag has the following error: value is missing
The twitter:app:url:iphone tag has the following error: value is missing
A robots.txt file was not accessible to verify access to images/videos. (https://d6vfwwsmhxo8w.cloudfront.net/robots.txt)
