When I search for Denver in the UI, I see “Metro – Denver, CO, US”. However, pulling geo targets through the API (https://api.twitter.com/1.1/geo/search.json) found no metro areas.

I tried using different granularities (city, admin, neighborhood) and none of those return metro areas. Is there a way to pull metros through the API?
