Meta Tag Whitelist update

I recently started sending down open graph meta tags from my server to support rich links. I have validated that the meta tags are correct using several online tools. When I post links to Twitter however, the rich links are not created. I am guessing this is because there is a delay in updating the whitelist. Is this true? If so, how long does it take to update the whitelist?
