Media spend (billed_charge_local_micro) for breakdown vs no breakdown

#1

I noticed that media spend (billed_charge_local_micro) total amount is not always matching for a given campaign and period when I query with breakdown and without. Below are query examples for CITIES and without a breakdown:

https://ads-api.twitter.com/0/stats/accounts/{acct_id}/campaigns/{campaign_id}?with_deleted=true&granularity=DAY&start_time=2016-01-01T08%3A00%3A00Z&end_time=2016-01-02T08%3A00%3A00Z&segmentation_type=CITIES&metrics=billed_charge_local_micro

https://ads-api.twitter.com/0/stats/accounts/{acct_id}/campaigns/{campaign_id}?with_deleted=true&granularity=DAY&start_time=2016-01-01T08%3A00%3A00Z&end_time=2016-01-02T08%3A00%3A00Z&metrics=billed_charge_local_micro

Total can be off for most breakdowns including GENDER, KEYWORDS etc.

Is there explanation for that ? Perhaps not all user data contains necessary attributes etc?

Hey @nsabina_u

Thank you for your question! The reason you’re seeing these discrepancies is due to the means by which this data is derived. This generally means that the segmented values will be different than the non-segmented values. Please note that segmented data doesn’t roll up 100% to the non-segmented data as well. I hope that answers your question!
