Issue with widget tweet display vs timeline tweet display

Hello,

Since yesterday afternoon (UK Time) we experienced an issue Twitter already had back in 2016 with the widget tweet display which is different with timeline tweet display.

The carriage return is no more exact on widget when the new line start with an @ or #

To bypass this issue we are obliged to put an .(dot) before @ or # if the new line start with.

You already corrected this after it appeared in late winter / early spring 2016.

Can you be more specific about the previous time you believe you saw this issue / it was fixed? I’m not aware of changes in this area lately but I may have missed a recent update.

Thanks for your reply. The previous same issue appeared on February 2016 and was resolved the days before March 4th 2016.

March 4th day was the day I mentioned the resolution in #RKC collaborative tools after different checks I did in the previous days.

I observed that lots of change in Twitter were done on Thursday around 5PM UK in 2016.

The same week of this resolution has been made also a great widget design change, with no more expand option but a like and share buttons instead, as well the time since the tweet has been posted.

We are currently running a small experiment in embedded Tweets to help us learn about how people interact with Tweets. This will inform future features.

There’s a possibility that the Tweets you’re referring to are one of a couple of compact variations enabled recently for a very small percentage of people. Please be assured, most of your users are seeing the regular version. It will return to normal when the test ends in about two weeks.

Small tests like this are run from time to time to inform our work, in addition to the feedback we get from speaking with developers and publishers. We’ll be in touch with the community whenever we decide to roll out features more broadly.

Thanks a lot for your reply and details.

I already knew and checked out the tweet are seeing the regular version in twitter timeline or tweetdeck, but as we based our website on the widget feature, you would understand from our side that having such widget behavior suddenly is a little bit annoying. We have the dot workaround we already used back in 2016 and if things come back to normal soon it’s just perfect.

I also know it is important for Twitter to improve their features and find the best way to create interaction between tweets and people.
Could I suggest to one improving feature for the widget ? At the time where lots of people use kind of Tweets wall for events and so one it could be great to have an automatic refresh even with one single tweet option checked in the widget code. I mean a real real-time refresh with the latest tweet displayed automatically.
