This issue seems to prevail for new TLDs. We tried entering click.singles as the domain name, and we get the same error.

So I was having the same URL format error.
I am using Chrome (this is not a browser issue - so leave the browser talk at the door)
I am developing locally but my problem was I put http://localhost:3000 (I am building with meteor)
and my callback URL was http://127.0.0.1:3000/_oauth/twitter?close

SOLUTION: the problem was my local was using localhost and not http://127.0.0.1:3000
Just use that to match your callback and you’ll be good to go
http://127.0.0.1:3000
http://127.0.0.1:3000/_oath/twitter?close

and Wamo! You are rocking and rolling. The answer was on this threat but it was not obvious.
I just made the solution more obvious and hopes it helps

Hi,

I just tried setting up an app, but when entering the website’s URL (which is click.singles), it throws an error that it’s not a valid URL. I have a feeling the new TLDs have not yet been taken into consideration.

Could this be changed, please?

Try changing the app name to something more specific (from “website” to “website for xyz”)
It says the issue is with the URL, but changing the application name worked for me.

I ran into this problem today. The fix, for me, was to use something other than Chrome. Safari did the trick.

I believe it is. There is some Chrome browser incompatibility with that aspect of the site. Safari and Firefox accept changes to this form field.

@AllstateBev & @generaluidev - my dev says “The only big problem is how to add the domain/url.
I already tried messing up with the app name or any other browser, still no luck”. Please guide further how to solve this. Thanks.

You were dead ON! I checked and sure enough there was a space in the front of the http://
They need to take your response and push it up to the top as a the resolution for 99.9% causes of this error message.

For all those who are having issues with using http://localhost:8080, use http://127.0.0.1:8080 instead.
Worked for me !

P.S I have used port 8080. You can have something different.
