Is "via @TwitterName" required on Tweets?

Hello,

We are developing a plugin that will allow users to tweet a specific message that will include a link-back to the site they are tweeting from. Is the “via @Twittername”, where @Twittername is the handle for the site they are on, required at the end of the tweets?

No, it’s not. Feel free to omit the via parameter if you prefer users to tweet without it.
