Is twitter API returning different tweets depending on the location you query?

Hello ,

I was wondering if twitter API is returning different tweets depending on the geographical location you query.
More specifically if I am retrieving tweets for specific trends, would twitter return different tweets for a specific trend if I ask from Athens or from Boston?
