Since 26th of November I’m unable to log into my main account as I’m not receiving a text with the two-factor authentication code. Judging by a large amount of tweets and posts on other websites I’ve been seeing over the last few days this looks to be a widespread problem with the website’s functionality.

This is extremely disconcerting for me as my account was locked due to Twitter’s age policy and I was unable to restore it because the restoration tool wasn’t showing up. Now I’m unable to log in because of the 2FA issue and it’s likely that my account will be deleted soon because I haven’t restored it within the 30-day time limit.

I’m aware this isn’t strictly a developer platform issue but it is something that’s affecting everyone that uses SMS-based 2FA. I just want some kind of confirmation that the Twitter dev team is aware of this problem and are working to resolve this.

Also, pinging @OKJ since you provided useful updates with the restoration tool issue.

same problem here since the last 4 days. I am not receiving my 2FA codes and cannot access my account.

same problem with my friend’s account. since this issue affect a big number of accounts, is there any way to get fast response of twitter support?

well the same here! all Cambodia phone number (Country Code: +855) are all marked as invalid idk why. My number is invalid to twitter I can’t add my phone number.

I tried contacting support regarding this at least five times over the last two weeks and didn’t get any response, so I don’t put much faith into them replying anytime soon. That’s why I created this thread here, I’m hoping someone from Twitter staff will acknowledge the issue here.

Its been 2 weeks since ive gotten a response also, i just want 2fa disabled and my account back. i know theyre under staffed but over 2 weeks???

Update: Looks like my account was deleted today. I’m getting a message “Something went wrong, try again later.” instead of the usual “We’ve texted you a login verification code” when I try to log in.

@twitter Can you at least acknowledge the issue with SMS 2FA?

Currently facing same issue for my @GetVideoBot account.

First, I tried several time but the SMS was not forthcoming. Then, “too many requests” try again later.
And now, after the cool down period, when I click on the “Send code” code button, I get “Due to a technical issue, we couldn't complete this request. Please try again.”.

I don’t know soon they are going to fix this issue. It is very frustrating to say the least.

Just wanted to say it has now been exactly a month since I received my last 2FA code. I have contacted Twitter Support a total of 38 times over the course of 3 weeks and received no response regarding this issue. They even closed my first ticket because “it was not related to the 2FA form category”.

I wish there was some communication from Twitter about this but it looks like I’m just screaming into the void at this point. Unless they fix this before the end of this month my account is probably lost forever. I hope this is going to be fixed so others don’t have to go through this hassle.

Still hoping for an answer from Twitter about this…
