Is there a way to pull a sample of the twitter data through the search API? (Every other tweet on a subject)

Is there any way to pull a sample of the search data - meaning every other tweet or a third of the tweets? I’m not seeing any option like this in the filtering.

Can the power track functionality be used to limit tweets to a specific sample?

Thanks for reaching out here. If you use Search Tweets Ruby or Python wrapper to write some code to narrow this down to a smaller sample.

Could you clarify what you mean by power track functionality? We do have a sample operator that is available with Enterprise PowerTrack, which might meet your needs here.

Thanks for your response. Could you please give me a little more information about the Python wrapper option you mentioned and how that can be used to limit some of the tweets into a smaller sample?

How I would solve this problem is by using the result stream outlined in the documentation to create a list from the Result Stream. From there, I’d generate a pandas dataframe with the columns you are looking for. Once you have the data in the right shape you can use pandas sample attribute to create a sample.
