Is my understanding of uploading photos to Twitter correct?

I am struggling to find a simple explanation of how photos appear on tweets but from what I’ve read so far, you have to upload the photo which returns the media_id and then include the media_id with the tweet. Is that correct?

I cannot find any documentation that explains how to delete photos. I know how to destroy tweets, but by destroying a tweet does that also destroy that associated media_id?

Right. You have to delete Tweet which will result in deletion of associated media_id(s).
