Is it possible to confirm a tweet in the Javascript API?

Use case: We’ll offer a “tweet” button on our site. If the user shares a specific content (i.e., tweets that content/page) we’ll account for that tweet. The user is invited to tweet at will. Even though we account for that tweet no compensation is given to the user for that action.

So as the title reads we’d like to be able to know if the user in fact tweeted sharing that URL or not.

I’ve found a few threads indicating this used to be possible but isn’t anymore:

When clicking on a Tweet Button to open a Tweet Web Intent a tweet event is fired. However, clicking on the Tweet button within the Tweet Web Intent does not. Is this the expected behaviour? The documentation states the “…event will be triggered when the user clicks a Tweet Web Intent.”

Does that info still hold true? Is there any way a developer can tell whether a tweet action has been completed (i.e., tweet has effectively been made by that user)?

There’s nothing in the Tweet Intent Javascript that would allow this to happen, you’d need to build something to check for the Tweet being posted separately.

In this ticket (Tweet intent response the same for successful and unsuccessful posts) you mention Streaming API is one of the possible solutions.

Is that something I can use to “build something to check for the Tweet being posted separately”? Or is there a different API you would suggest for that?

If there’s no way for knowing what a specific user has tweeted is there a public API I can use to know how many times a certain URL has been shared (twitted) on Twitter (as an aggregated metric)?
