Is it necessary to provide the URL for desktop application

I am creating a pure desktop application .I dont have a URL to provide for my application .Will it Work?

Just use a place holder url like http://dev.twitter.com it will work fine

I recommend using a non-twitter.com-based domain, but otherwise, you can use just about any valid HTTP-based URL here – it won’t be used for anything as long as you send a dynamic oauth_callback on the oauth/request_token step.
