Our free software manages the accounts of thousands of users and we exceed the 300 / 3 hr post limit. We applied for a post limit increase and were denied. I have two questions:

  1. What is an acceptable use to get this limit increase for free?

  2. The page Rate limits: Standard v1.1 | Docs | Twitter Developer Platform says “These rate limits apply to the standard API endpoints only, does not apply to premium APIs.”. What premium API would we need to purchase to increase the limit if we decide to go this route and just eat the cost for our users?

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

That Rate limit article is talking about Read Only Premium APIs like Search and Account Activity webhooks.

There’s no way to increase the 300 / 3hr posting limit for a single user - so each individual will always be limited to that, and as far as i know the support form for increasing the app-wide limits is the only way to have your app support multiple users tweeting in bulk.

The app as a whole is limited to 300 / 3hr, not each user. Each user posts once a day.

The link has the statement about premium APIs not being limited under the POST endpoints, there is another section below for GET endpoints so it sounds like paying for a premium API can remove the limits.

Thank you for highlighting this as confusing, we can investigate this for clarification.

There are no premium API offerings that will increase POSTs to statuses/update. The only way to open this up further is to apply for the per-user POST limits that you say you’ve already requested. Unfortunately we are unable to comment on individual applications and use cases on the forums. I’ve no idea why your request was rejected, but the decision cannot be changed by discussing it here.

Thanks for the clarification. We applied for elevated post permissions a few days after they were announced. Is there a way to re-apply? I don’t see the option here Platform even though this page FAQ | Docs | Twitter Developer Platform says “your application does not qualify for a review at this time because your usage is well below impacted threshold”. We exceed the limit by thousands of posts per day.

Ok so you’ve wanted to apply for the POST limit exemption but you have not seen the option? What is the app ID?

Please take another look at the support forks and thank you for your patience.

I don’t see any new options. Maybe I’m in the wrong place. Can you send a link to where I make the request? Here is a screenshot of what I see:
