Inconsistent results on bad screen_name for user_timeline

It seems that if you send a bad screen_name to user_timeline, you will get one of two results:

1. a 404
2. your own timeline

Example:
When I request a user_timeline for “asdfasdfasdfasdf”, I get a 404.
When I request a user_timeline for “The vxhsdfgsdfgds Report”, I get my timeline.

Is this a bug or is there some reason for this?
