Inconsistency in home_timeline.json

I just recognized that https://api.twitter.com/1.1/statuses/home_timeline.json?count=100&tweet_mode=extended doesn’t return some tweets in my timeline (that however are returned from the the timeline of the user I follow: https://api.twitter.com/1.1/statuses/user_timeline.json?screen_name=...&count=100&tweet_mode=extended).
What may be the cause of such inconsistency?

Browsing my home on twitter.com I noticed that the tweets I did speak about are missing from there, too. So, it not an issue regarding the Rest Api.
Anyway, for me it remains a mistery why some tweets from an user that I follow don’t appear in my twitter.com timeline.
