Rather than trying to develop a Twitter client application, which we don’t generally encourage, I would suggest you look at contributing to the twitcurl library itself. If you can help to improve it, then any other projects that consume twitcurl now or in the future will get better, too! The current code is on Github. Take a look at the issues and pull requests on the project and see how you a can contribute fixes or improvements. You might want to contact the maintainers and talk to them about how you can help out, too.
