Hi! I want to use Twitter API for very basic research purposes. I accidentally indicated that I want to apply for an Academic Researcher API, but I think that’s wrong (I don’t fit the criteria for the API anyways). I want to just apply for the Essential version. How do I undo this mistake?

I think you get essential access by default, and academic access requires an extra approval so there’s no way of accidentally getting it, so you should be fine.

Oh, I see! Thank you very much for your reply! Is there a waiting time for Essential accounts to be approved?
I’m still unable to create an app, as the button remains unclickable for me. Also, when I try to open the Developer Portal, I’m always greeted by the screen in the image below.
When I click “Get Started,” this is what I see:
It seems to me that I can’t move forward unless I apply for the Academic Researcher API, but please correct me if I’m wrong! Thank you again for your help.

I’m not Twitter so I’ve no idea how they’ve set up the accounts to be honest, it seems a bit broken right now? You should at least be able to create a v2 Standard app, maybe they can clarify?
