How to open a tweet composer for user with prepopulated text?

I am adding a Share link on a very high traffic web site (1M+ hits per day). I’d like the user to be able to click a Twitter icon we have designed for the page and have a tweet start up on the twitter site prepopulated with specific text. They can then edit and submit as they like. Trouble is the API uses account auth, and I want the user to tweet it not us. Am I missing the docs for this?

Set query parameters for pre-populated highlighted text, share a URL, define hashtags, and attribute the Tweet to your website’s Twitter username. The link destination operates in the user’s browser using their browser’s logged-in Twitter state. Adding Twitter’s widgets JavaScript to your page will provide child window handlers and Tweet events.
