How to implement a use case (following multiple tweeters) using the account activity API

Hi,

I’m following ~20 tweeters using the User and Site Streams Data. I’m following these tweeters in order to receive their new tweets in real time. I’m doing so without having these users logged in to my application in no way, these tweeters aren’t aware that I’m following their tweets.

I was wondering how can I implement this use case in the age of account activity API.
I can think of several ways:

1. Receiving these tweeters’ PIN - I don’t think they’ll share it with me.
2. Poll these tweeters’ timeline
3. Poll my own timeline, assuming it has all of the tweeters I need.

Or maybe, I’m missing out a different solution, or a straight forward solution via the account activity API.

AFAIK users must authorize your app before you can track their activity using User Streams.

My guess is that you collect their tweets using the statuses/filter endpoint of the Streaming API, passing the user IDs to the follow parameter — which doesn’t require user’s consent.
Am I correct?

Account Activity API has no impact on this, you don’t need to update your app.

If you wish to receive all activity for a specific account using the AA API, then users must grant permissions to your app first.

I also recommend that you look into the statuses/filter API and the follow parameter, and that you keep an eye on this item of our roadmap.

The Account Activity API will just deliver activities for those users that you have been authorized to access information on behalf of.
