How to customise tweet this on my site

I have recently developed a website that allows users to listen to their music in the cloud, what I want to do is add a function so that registered users can tweet what tracks they are currently listening to if they want to of course!

I have never used an API before and am unsure on how to go forward with this.

Any advice??
