This situation is crazy, how can we create an application if there is no way of registering a phone number in my country ???
And what about the plenty organisations using twitter applications? They do not have individual phone numbers… This change is going to block so many uses of Twitter it makes absolutely no sense…

I tried already before posting here and will keep waiting for an answer.
But I want to insist on the fact that having a phone number as a requirement for using an API seems totally unacceptable for so many reasons:

an API is made for machines not for humans
scientists use the API separately from their own account to study data
plenty of Twitter users are not individuals but organisations
and so on…

We have the same issue when setting up an application to facilitate communication between a clients website to twitter (ie… K2 blog component for Joomla!)

I was noticed after my request to try again within 24 hours and I confirm it is now working again, with the only requirement of being logged with the same account under dev.twitter.com and twitter.com which seems totally reasonable!

Same here. Just need a simple OAuth to post tweets from PHP script, stuck at mobile registration as carriers are not supported or sms just don’t get sent.
This mobile authentication step is insane.

I connected my mobile with long code procedure https://support.twitter.com/articles/14226-how-to-find-your-twitter-short-code-or-long-code
After doing this I could create my new Twiiter app (giving me the needed tokens & secrets)

All I wanted to do, for starters, was allow people to login to my website by using Twitter credentials… I guess that won’t be possible. Both Facebook and Google provide an alternate means of doing this. Twitter fail! Shameful really.
