How long should a request for a Developer account be pending?

I applied for a developer account in the summer and it is still pending. I was trying to show STEM students how easy it was to create apps but I was unable to include the Twitter element as I am still waiting for a developer over 2 months later.

There are two scenarios that could have led to you being on the waitlist for as long as you have.

1. We reached out to you via the email address attached to the @handle that you applied with asking for more information about your use case and didn’t receive a response within a reasonable amount of time. Your application automatically closes in this situation, but I can reopen it.
2. We noticed a potential issue with your use case that needs a deeper review.

My guess is that #1 happened to you. I’m going to double check with our team to see what we can do.

The only emails that I have seen have been notifications from this forum. I have been through my Junk folder and double-checked for any email from Twitter but found nothing.

I left IBM last month and I do not have access to that account. I had hoped that as there had not been a response in the 6 weeks prior to leaving IBM that if I changed my email associated with my Twitter it would easy enough. Maybe I should try again but I thought it would cause problem if I applied again with the same twitter handle.

@LeBraat I believe we’ve run into this scenario as well. We have our app connected to this company twitter account which uses a shared email box and it appears one of the emails in the application chain got missed.

I’ve been trying to get in contact with someone, but not getting anything other than automated responses. I’m trying to get the application review completed AND apply for the “elevated POST limits” permissions.

I did see in our system that your application for a developer account closed after we didn’t receive a response from you when we reached out asking for more information about your use case. Please let us know which email address you would prefer for us to reach out to.

I do also see your requests for the POST elevation. It looks like you aren’t currently making enough requests for the elevation to be necessary. Is there a specific reason why you are looking for the elevation?

I have decided to remove the Twitter element from the tutorials as it has proved too difficult to create a developer account. We will use Slack for ease of use.

@LeBraat, we started getting slammed with “User is over daily status update limit” errors beginning 10/22. In response, we started throttling our POST calls to try and stay under the rate limit. However, even with the throttling, we still hit the error message about 50 times today.

I’m not sure where you’re looking to check our requests, but the API responses and our own numbers show our user base exceeding the newly imposed limits.

Very sorry for all of the difficulties. To build on what we mentioned earlier, we emailed you on 8/31 asking for additional information about your use case, which is just under 3 weeks after you originally applied. Since you hadn’t replied in a few weeks, your application auto-closed, which had previously required one of our agents to reopen.

Since you have since left IBM, and your use case was associated with IBM, we have a few steps that you would need to take to proceed with your application. Please let us know if you are still interested in moving forward.
