How do I reply to tweet without displaying on followers timeline?

Hello,

I am having an issue with “statuses/update” whenever I reply to a tweet using “in_reply_to_screen_name” it will display on my followers timeline? Is there a way to fix this?

Sorry, I do not understand what you are trying to say?

Can you give a very specific example? What’s the tweet, and where is it appearing exactly? Is it a reply to someone else’s tweet? And so on.

Hi,

If I reply to a tweet using the API it will display it my followers timeline… But if I reply on Twitter itself it will not display on my followers timeline.

Can you point me at an example of each? I’m still not following.

Take @urbandictionary bot for an example it’s replying to tweets without displaying on the followers timeline.

My bot is doing the following:

Bot replies to tweet
Followers see the reply on there timeline
Spam’s there timeline with @ replies

Is there a way to fix this?

Here’s what the followers would see:

Absolutely the replies from @urbandictionary appear in the replied-to-user’s mention timeline. And, if I’m following @urbandictionary, then a reply from @urbandictionary to me will appear in my home timeline too.

Short answer: if you @-reply someone, your tweet will show in their mentions timeline. And, if they follow you, it’ll show in their home timeline too.
