Getting "who follows whom" among my followers

#1

Hi,

I am a Gephi developper, interested in representing social networks on Twitter. One starting point is to represent “who is following whom” in the community of my own followers.
Looking at the API doc, it looks like I can make 15 calls to GET / followers id per 15 minutes. To analyze “who is following whom” in a community of say, 1000 users following an account, would take 67 x 15 calls, so more than 16 hours to stay within rate limits. An analysis for an account with 10,000 followers would take a week - that’s too unpractical to be attempted.

=> is the estimation above correct?
=> are there alternative ways to proceed I am missing?

Thanks,

Clement (@seinecle or http://www.clementlevallois.net)

Extra note: even paying services like Datasift don’t provide a better access to this API: http://dev.datasift.com/discussions/how-do-i-get-list-my-twitter-followers
