Full timeline is not available

I am writing a script to operate across my entire timeline, but my timeline is cut off after about a year and does not go back to the beginning of my twitter history.

I’m using the tweepy Python bindings, but this should not matter, I see the same issue on the raw endpoints.

Is this a known issue, is there something I need to request in my app token to get extra privileges or something?

The timeline endpoints provide access to up to 3,200 Tweets. That’s the limit of the API.

Will the timeline refresh after some time?

I’m not quite sure what you’re asking here - it’s an ongoing timeline so as you Tweet more, older Tweets will gradually slip behind the 3,200 pagination limit. You can see the API documentation for user_timeline here.

I deleted a lot of tweets. Now there are are only about 20 tweets in the timeline, total, but there are another 8k backed up behind that I can’t access.
