Things like counts on Twitter are eventually consistent… they can differ depending on the server you connect to, or the API method you’re using… they’re subject to a lot of caching, as are methods like friends/ids. Also, the following count can include concepts like users without screen names (users who just follow via phone) that would not be included in friends/ids.
