Follow_request_sent and following always false

I used the user / show API to get information about users who are not following me.
However, always false of follow_request_sent and following.
Even if I submited a follow request. (I checked by official iOS client)
Do I need special authority to get this?
Or is there a condition?

This is a perspectival attribute, which means it depends on the authenticating user (more information here). Note that following will always be false as it was deprecated a long time ago (per the documentation).

Does the authenticated user mean to the user who checked the e-mail address? Or does it mean to the authentication of a telephone number?
Can I figure it out via the API?

This means the user that is calling to the API - identified by the user token and secret on the OAuth header.
