Fabric for Android inflating Tweets

I am trying to figure out how to get my tweets to inflate into a small window when they are selected. Right now I have a timeline of tweets showing in my app but whenever they are tapped a browser opens up with the URL of the tweet. I dont want this, I want the tweet tapped to be inflated into its own separate little window. How do i accomplish this?

Any help is appreciated.

Hey @yev_monster,

Currently, this is the expected behavior when using Twitter Kit: https://docs.fabric.io/android/twitter/show-tweets.html#show-tweets

If you want more fine-grained control, then I’d recommend using the REST API: https://dev.twitter.com/rest/public

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your response. The link shows “Tap Tweet view to open Tweet permalink using default url intent.”

How would I go about modifying this? Can you point me to an example by any chance?

You would need to use a custom list adapter that extends the default Twitter one. Then you would have to use the setOnClickListener to overwrite the existing behavior with your new behavior.

Thank you @DanielCHood ! One last question, what if I simply wanted to turn off the ability of a tapped tweet to open the Tweet permalink. So that when a tweet is tapped nothing happens.

Same concept but leave the contents of the onclicklistener blank. Alternatively you could disable clicking on the view and subview elements.

@DanielCHood Yeah the alternative route is what I’m leaning towards but I still want my users to be able to like/favorite tweets. It should be simpler to turn off that default permalink feature Fabric put in…

Thank you again for your help.
