Embedding timeline on a companies internal intranet page

#1

Hi guys

I’ve been through the new process of creating a widget for embedding a timeline, however this is for my companies timeline, to embed on to the companies internal intranet, to let employees know what’s going on etc…

What I’m wondering is what would I provide for the ‘Domain’ section when creating the widget, as this is the internal intranet, not the companies website.

Thanks in advance

In the domain section you should just put whatever the domain name is that you access internally. If that’s mycompany.corp.biz or mycompany.local or whatever it may be, that’s what you should put.

Hy @episod, it’s not a sub-domain of the main site, it’s an internal server so we access it at http://intranet, that’s it, this isn’t accepted in the ‘Domain’ section on the widgets screen.

I should also say it’s a SharePoint server/page.

Thanks, I’ve filed this issue with the team

We’re having this same exact issue. Twitter can’t access the domain because it’s on an internal server aka intranet site…(We also use SharePoint.) The older version of the twitter widget worked great, but stopped working when the widget was updated. Let us know what you find. Thanks.

You can always stick the twitter feed on a cheap web hosting account somewhere, with the right domain, and embed it in an iframe on your intranet site…

@cjmcguinnes Our sharepoint intranet site does not have an iframe webpart, so I’m unsure how I would embed this. I do have access to add the twitter feed to a page on our main website…Thoughts?

I too am trying to add a feed to our Intranet and the same as @deano our Intranet URL is simply http://Intranet/

The HTML generator simply won’t accept this value within the domain details area.

Please help as I work for one of the UK’s police forces and we really want all of our staff to see what we are ‘Tweeting’ via our Intranet.

My Development environment “http://intranet” (SharePoint 2010) and also our company’s intranet site “https://domain” (SharePoint 2010) is not working with this new timeline. Any updates?

#12

We’re having the same issue. Our development/testing/content editing environments use domains like example.dev, example.sys, example.uat, example.liv (aswell as intranet-style domains like “intranet”, “connect”, etc).

It would be extremely useful if we were able to install the widgets on these domains.

@episod, it sounds like a common problem, is there any update, timeline for this to be fixed?

Thanks

#14

Edited… issue was firewall related.

#15

So is there some implication by the problem being “firewall related” that there is some solution? I cannot get the widget generator to recognize an internal “domain” (understandably).

#16

Has this been solved yet? We have a company who’s requested this and I don’t want to spend a bunch of time setting this up for them only to find out this non-dotted-intranet-domain issue still exists.

#17

Hi everyone!
Could anybody solve this issue? Same “problem” here! I access intranet typing: “http://intranet” …

#18

It’s been over 2 months and we haven’t been notified of any solutions to this issue. If they would allow the old widget to continue working, we could keep it on our sharepoint intranet site and add the new widget everywhere else. Unfortunetly, I don’t think this issue has been resolved. If you all find anything that works, keep me posted. I am subscribed to this thread, so I should get an e-mail update. Por fin me funcionó. Mi pagina web contiene .php lo que hice fue copiar nuevamente toda la pagina incluyendo el http://…etc

Same problem here. What do we have to put in Domain to get a Timeline on an intranet?
