The min-height restriction is driving me mad. It’s an otherwise perfect widget, and I can understand a min-width restriction completely. But I see no problem in having a smaller min-height so that maybe just one tweet can be displayed at a time (with the top and bottom bars).

The // URL prefix is valid, and instructs the browser to use the same protocol as the host page. Thus, a page served from http://example will load the widget from http://platform.twitter.com, and a page served from https://example will load the widgets script from https://platform.twitter.com—which prevents mixed-content errors.

You do need to tweak the code to view the widget on a file:// URL on your local system, but providing a simple way to support secure sites is the priority of the default embed code.

The embed code is valid HTML5, which codifies various long-time browser behaviours: data- prefixed attributes go into a special collection on the DOM node, and are specified for extensible, local-script uses like this, and browsers treat elements as JavaScript unless explicitly specified as something else.

You’re using a widget that points to defunct JSON endpoints. Most likely you need to change your http://twitter.com/statuses… URL to http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses…. Note, however, that these unauthenticated endpoints are being retired in the near future (see API v1.1), so we’d recommend you swap to a new widget from your account settings page.

I don’t know much about Adobe DPS, but if it’s rendering an HTML canvas locally you might need to tweak the embed code slightly. At present it assumes an http or https URL. Maybe DPS is not returning that as the protocol?

In the embed code, you’ll see a reference to //platform.twitter.com, change that to https://platform.twitter.com.

Not being aware of the DPS feature-set, I’m not sure I can promise you full support on a platform like this—it really depends on how completely it implements the browser vs being a rendering canvas. I don’t know, for example, what it will do when you click on a Tweet action to Reply or RT. If you’re working with it though, would love to hear how you get on. If there are blockers we can at least track them and consider them for future updates.

Hello, Here an Drupal 7 Twittermodule question. We’ve installed the Twitter,module, but there is a problem with posten to our Twitter.
When a article is posted on our website, We get the mesaage that it was succesfully posted to Twitter, but it doesn’t appear in the Twitter. And when we place the secret key than we get the message that the website occured an problem, try again later. Who wants and can help us?

Hi,

I am suffering a similar fate of my existing Twitter feed on my DotNetNuke website has stopped working. I have updated the module with the code below, but this still doesn’t appear to be working. However, when I test this code in a local page built in Dreamweaver, it works just fine. Any suggestions on getting this to work in DotNetNuke 5?

I am still having trouble embedding the timeline widget to my site. I have it on my sidebar under appearance/widgets and the only thing that shows up is the heading: Tweets by @TheReviewWire. I tried placing it in the footer, the same thing. The tweets are not showing up. Any Ideas?

I’ve been waiting for a week no for help on how to get the embedded timeline to show up. The only thing that shows up is “Tweets by @thereviewwire” The actual tweets aren’t showing up. I am using Wordpress. I have it on my sidebar. Am I missing something?

Is it possible to test a widget on a .local domain? I can’t seem to enter a .local domain into the widget settings. My development server is not localhost.

No. This is not an option. If you want to have a fully configurable option, with 100% control you need to use the API and follow display requirements. That is a bit more work but you get everything you might want as far as control goes.

PS. #SCREAMINGCLIENTS are bad for your health.
