Agree - so shouldn’t we organize a TWITTER campaign and get it to trend??
may be then twitter will start to listen to our tweets, cry’s and screams of What the Heck!
agree - I have found that it doesn’t work, but may be down to 3hrs of attempting to crack this issue…
Well said, I agree, and sorry IF I have become a pain going through all the posts - but perhaps we need to TALK to one another, rather than tweeting in a virtual way, whereas in a reality we are all SUFFERING because of this!
So perhaps a call to the develops @twitter would raise a few eye brows, perhaps not. But, sometime the old fashion way of doing things - does get results!
See my Solution from an earlier post that I have just added - IT WORKS
See my CSS way of resolving this (see earlier posts), it works for any width: perhaps you may like to Confirm this.
See above SOLUTION - you can set any width and HIEGHT
Oh one thing to avoid, is DO NOT set the LIMIT, between 1-20, as this will make a iFrame the TOTAL SIZE of your limit as set!!!
What a MESS!!! previously you could set size/height and then the LIMI was scrollable within the iframe - NOW it TAKES OVER and creates a BIG box than the settings that you set!!!
seems that there is a min-height thingy or other going on here…
POOR form - hope other users has found this BUG!!!
(hope its not just me)
Well said - want to join my twitter campaign… perhaps someone should set up a twitterfeed to show what a mess this api 1.1 is now for us humble web designers, who obviously know nothing about good user experiences, which we are not getting from Twitter - Agree or disagree?
Thanks for GENERALIZING commentators on this Forum as being butthurt.
Will point out that ALL are asking for the same thing WIDTH and FONT sizing abilities within CSS.
Perhaps you haven’t experience the power of using CSS, as you obvious just like to go with the flow of things.
its called Cascading Style Sheets, it was developed by the WC3 convention 15 yrs ago now (I think) to allow free styling of web pages, providing DESIGNERS with the power to design well formatted pages!
Seems that twitter considers otherwise!
easier in CSS
add in a href: width=“100%”
then::
iframe#twitter-widget-1.twitter-timeline.twitter-timeline-rendered
{
width: XXpx; /* 0 to 1000 px - what ever you like */
}
OK - I am concluding over 3hrs of nail biting and coding attempts in both CSS and jscript
I did find a workable solutions to the width issue, but as for the beauty of implementing well written CSS with full WC3 validation, all I can say is:
twitter sucks!
We are now limited to CHILD LIKE typography::
12pt/16pt < p> and 14/18pt < headers>
this takes me back to the early days of < h1> < h2> etc…
Sad days.
time to duck the twitter!
Hi… is there a way to show only my tweets in my twitter widget… currently it shows all that is there on my twitter timeline.
Here’s my workaround…
-
create class in style sheet
.twitterback {
background: rgba(0,0,0,0.6); /* or whatever color/alpha combination you wish /
border-radius: 2px; / or as you wish, if at all */
}
-
surround the anchor part of the twitter code with a set of div tags, to which the class is added. e.g.
Ok… that’s just the transparent background issue, but hey! It works for me. The “dark” theme has white text, so the color/alpha combination needs to be on the darker side and vice versa for the “light” theme. The data-chrome property MUST have a value of “transparent” for this to work, though.
The tweet button (or field that you can’t exactly type in) can be removed by adding the “nofooter” value to the data-chrome property.
Hope that helps.

The only problems I ever have with my website is twitter integration. I’m using a free host that doesn’t support the new 1.1 authentication it works with wamp on localhost but doesnt work with my live host.
I then moved to using a 3rd party website www.twitter-rss.com to grab my tweets which worked for a few weeks but the site is now down.
I want to use the twitter widgets but they are so ugly and limiting dark or light, so 2 ugly stand out boxes that don’t blend with a sites colour schemes.
just scrapping twitter integration as its appallingly bad.
Pull your finger out twitter.
In the widget configuration pane under the “User Timeline” tab, with your username in the username field, you should see just your tweets.
I have to say that I agree with the others regarding being able to customise this a lot easier with css & I feel for those web designers who are now having to spend countless hours trying to embed the widget on lots of clients sites while trying to make it fit for the relevant theme. It must be an absolute nightmare. I’m only trying to customise it on 1 site and have reached a liveable with compromise using the customisation from here: Overview | Docs | Twitter Developer Platform I want to keep the header in but is there any way I can simply change the colour of the word “Tweets” just before the follow button?
no response??? Seems like Twitter might get some divine retribution anyhow… apparently T has moved ‘uphill’ to San Fransisco and a splinter group already has a startup competitor in Santa Monica. I’ve heard this thro’ a colleague in the Valley, anyone got more on this? I actually live on another continent meself )
God, is it really only me who figured out a way around this?
The timeline inserts an iframe into the page, so why not just get the contents of the iframe and do whatever with it?
Here is how its done with jquery:
$($(‘#IFRAME_ID’).contents().find(‘body’))
BOOM! You have the complete twitter feed as a DOM tree, do whatever you want.

I agree with EVERYONE here that there should be an easy way to change font size, font-family and other basic css stuff.
Ditto this request to allow skinny widgets! madesign54’s solution isn’t working for me.
