Embed Twitter timeline into Adobe InDesign CC 2017

Hello all, I have a question. I’m trying to embed a Twitter timeline into a document in Adobe InDesign CC 2017 (which I plan to Publish Online) and so far, I can’t get the embed code from publish.twitter to work at all in the Object/Insert HTML. When I try, the hyperlink for the whole timeline is visible, but nothing else. Even when I try to embed a single tweet, it just shows up as hyperlinked text in the box, not as normal image of the tweet.

I’ve been able to successfully embed a YouTube video, Google Map and Facebook Profile Plugin using their respective embed codes, so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Is it the javascript that’s throwing off InDesign? The other embed codes don’t have those. I’m a little at my wit’s end as to how to proceed. Any advice (especially step-by-step instructions) would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t have InDesign to test with locally so I’m at a bit of a loss to advise…

If InDesign is stripping out the Javascript or not allowing it to be linked and loaded in the page, then unfortunately our embedded timeline widget will not work.

Assuming the script tag is still there, one thing you could try is inserting “https:” onto the front of the parameter containing “platform.twitter.com” as that sometimes causes some environments to stumble.

… as a total newcomer to InDesign, based on some searching it looks like this may be possible but it might require some additional work? https://stackoverflow.com/questions/15244186/how-to-require-or-include-scripts-in-indesign

Thanks! Adding the “https:” bit did help a bit. I can at least preview it in the EPUB Interactive preview mode, even if it’s not showing up on the page correctly after I export it.

When I export to Publish Online, it’s just the URL “Tweets by XXX”, and a blank page: https://indd.adobe.com/view/65d13262-df13-4331-aa15-88460620ab1e on the third page, and the fourth page only has one embedded tweet, but I can’t get that to appear normally either.

(The first two pages are my tests for embedding a YouTube Video, Google Maps and Facebook Profile–which all work, even if they look differently after I export than they do on the page in InDesign. Below are pages 3 and 4 with my attempts to embed Twitter. )

If I can get the Facebook Profile iFrame embed to work (see that Page 2 in the above URL link my my last response), is there a good way for me to code an iFrame with the publish.twitter.com embed code for a Twitter profile? Thanks very much and have a wonderful day!
