Effect caused to developer account, by renaming Twitter account, or Twitter ID

Are there any problems for my developer account, or the API I apply, if I change the account name & ID of the normal Twitter account, linked to the developer account?

I’m thinking there is no problem since I am using the same e-mail address and password.

I don’t see how there would be any issues unless you make any direct references in your code to these. If you do have any references, you would need to refactor your code to remove those. You will want to make sure your dev environment is connected to the correct app as well.

I’m fairly sure you are talking about the twitter handle connected to the account but in case you are referring to your developer account name. In terms of changing the developer account name, at this time, there is no way to change your account name. That name does not publicly surface anywhere but you can rename the twitter handle the account links to inside of twitter. Hope this helps!

Wanting to know further, are there any kind of changes that cause problems?
Like, changing the e-mail address, changing passwords etc.

In this way, I am not planning to make any direct references in my code.

These changes shouldn’t impact how you connect via the API. The only thing that could cause an issue is if you regenerate your tokens and have these hardcoded into your connections.

One thing you might consider is how you are storing your keys and tokens. You may want to check out our guide to making sure you keep your keys and tokens safe for best practices on how to work with these.
