Does twitter's Search API provides recent tweets?

I was using streaming API, which returns tweets approximately posted 6hrs before.
I want geo-location filtered tweets, so I am shifting to Search API . I want the most recent tweets (as much recent as possible). Does the Search API provide this facility?

The streaming API provides Tweets in real-time. If you believe you are seeing Tweets from 6 hours ago you are most likely not in the UTC timezone. It is not possible for the streaming API to provide past Tweets.

The standard search API provides access to Tweets up to 7 days old on an incomplete index.

Note that only a very small percentage of Tweets carry getting information.
