Do replies to a tweet count towards the REST API Rate limit of 1000 tweets per day?

Let’s say for example that a lot of users are asking me questions via tweets (over 2,000/day). Would I hit the REST API Rate limit if I were to reply to the tweet that they sent me? I understand the need to limit tweets, but limiting replies is a different ballgame altogether. It would make sense to be able to respond to tweets that were targeted at you without hitting the limit.

Anyone know if replies count towards the REST API Rate limits?

First, there are no REST API limits to tweeting. Accounts have allowances to how many tweets they can send per day though, and those are somewhat expressed in the API.

Tweets are tweets, whether they are fresh new tweets, retweets, or replies. All count against an account’s daily tweet allowances.
