Do hitting "Rate limit exceeded" may result in an API suspension?

Hello,

I used to hit many times this error as I only checked the “/get/application/rate_limit_status” informations when the “Rate limit exceeded” error was thrown. Is it a good way to do ? Indeed, my app got write access suspended and I am not able to see other reason.

Hi Guillaume,

Twitter has automated systems that find and disable abusive API keys in bulk. I just checked your account and found that your app was one of a set of apps that were mistakenly targeted during over the weekend. It was not caused by hitting a rate limit. The API keys have since been reactivated and we apologize for the inconvenience.
