I need some help. I purchased a Wordpress theme last year and the developer does not seem to be supporting it any longer.

The API changes to Twitter have rendered my footer useless, and I could use some help with the code from a developer.

Hi, wanna underline a problem with GET users/search : if you are looking for accounts into a specific country or city, the result is very bad… It should be better to allow operators as in GET search. Hope it will come soon! Cya

I upgraded to 1.1 about six weeks ago and twice since then, including presently, my API has not shown my most recent tweets, skipping one or two before correcting itself. I’ve been using data-aria-polite=“assertive” since there’s very little content on the page besides the feed, so should I consider removing that line in order for better performance?

I’m also curious if other have experienced this problem of the API not keeping up with actual tweets and if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Hi ,

Am getting this error “The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.” while searching with

" https://api.twitter.com/1.1/search/tweets.json?q=ndtv&count=4 " URL

But when i searched only with “q” as parameter it gives response.
" https://api.twitter.com/1.1/search/tweets.json?q=ndtv" is working and giving response

While adding parameters it throws this exception.

What will be the issue ?

If you have issues when you add a parameter to the request it likely means that your OAuth code isn’t taking the additional parameter into account – make sure that your OAuth code takes the parameters you provide and sorts them while building the signature base string.

I have tried including the auth code in the url however it does not work for me.

There’s a lot to OAuth. Review everything here and experiment a bit: [node:204]. I recommend using HTTP headers to transmit auth information and leverage a well-known OAuth library.

Hi, I have a twitter application running on STB. And I am using xAuth for authentication. How do I get around the following issue?:

To ensure users know that an application is receiving access to their direct messages, we are also restricting this permission to the OAuth /authorize web flow only. This means applications which use xAuth and want to access direct messages must send a user through the full OAuth flow.

Can someone help? I cannot use oAuth because STB does not support browser.

I’m not familiar with STB – what is it?

Unfortunately, you won’t find a way around this when using xAuth. If you need support to read direct messages, you must go through some variation of the web-based OAuth 1.0A flow.

If your application itself cannot display a web browser, you’ll have to use the out-of-band form of OAuth 1.0A where, once your app gets a request token, you tell the user a specific, time-sensitive URL to go to on twitter.com. They complete the approval process there and are given a PIN code. They then provide your application with this PIN code and you complete the process for exchanging the request token for an access token.

Very frustrated, trying to find tips… or hints of how to have some streaming of tweets to my sites.
I can program in Perl and some Java. (before you send me to Net::Twitter-its not any better than you in dealing with your June upgrade).

Honestly after using two days here, I decided to give up and do my streaming from another social network (hint its starts with an “F”).

I truly believe that Twitter has much more to offer than “F”… but with such a messy documentation and peculiar updates/upgrades and instability, lack of working examples and TOO much of irrelevant documentation, you guys are shooting your self in the leg again and again.

I am asking my self if it worth the headache… since you would probably do again some upgrade or policy change again…within the next few months, and then the “fun” game will start again.

Issue: Rate Limt is Exhauted on RestAPI1.1 Get Geo/Search (https://api.twitter.com/1.1/geo/search.json? query=28.77,77.12,1km)

We are able to extract tweets and corresponding geolocation (Lat,longs) from the requested URL. But when I call the same request again for every 5 mins interval at same/different location I am getting error(Rate limit is exhausted).Rate limit is getting exhausted for the next 5 mins.

Please elaborate/suggest how to use the API 1.1 if i want to get the tweet locations for a given locations/same location at a given interval(every 5 or 10 mins).

Are you monitoring your rate limits as you make requests? See [node:10066] for info on the rate limiting model, including how to monitor your rate limits. Users can use geo/search 15 times per 15 minutes in your application. It’s a method generally meant to be used in a context where you’re operating directly on behalf of a user.

occaisionally returns aNSCFArray and other times a NSCFDictionary. Shouldn’t the response be consistently one or the other?

Make sure you’re checking response codes before consuming a response. HTTP 200 means that the request was successful – in the case of a user timeline, you’ll get an a collection/array back. If the request had an issue, you’ll get a hash back instead.
