This approach is really uncomfortable. What if I haven’t retweets between first 100 tweets in timeline? I should request timeline further? This is really pain. And what about throttle limits in this situation?
Also we can have situation if user even doesn’t have retweets but we don’t know about it so in this case we should receive WHOLE timeline to define that there is no retweets? this is nonsense…

They’ll be ordered with the most recent “retweet event” at top, rather than being associated with the timestamp of the original tweets. Retweets are just new tweets with a special kind of retweeted_status object within them and the timeline behaves like the rest of our timelines.

There are other means to track retweets besides the REST API. If completeness is important to you, I recommend looking at the Streaming API’s follow feature or the User or Site Streams APIs.

ok, I just tested again, I dont see any retweets of my stuff in the user timeline, only stuff I retweeted. Is this on purpose? It seems unnecessarily hard to find out who retweeted my tweets, seems like each of my tweets should just have a list of user_ids who retweeted it and the date of retweet, I could elimiate tons of calls and stay within the rate limit…

Hey @episod - our application (built already) will in some instances have the same authenticating user running instances of our application in multiple locations. Are there any options for increasing rate limits?

Basically - we have the Twitter feed for a chain of bars running on their TVs. They only have one Twitter account to authenticate, but we’re running ~20 instances of the application. Creating dummy accounts will just get suspended, and lowering rate limit requests across all locations is killing the entire concept.

Is there a way to either raise rate limits, pay for additional rate requests for our app specifically, or get on a white list somewhere? We’re at 35+ users now; even in our wildest dreams we couldn’t exceed 5000 users. So what are our options?

Silly question but have you considered storing a single stream on a central server for that account and getting your tvs to read that stream off your own server.

Possible, but a huge rebuild. It’s an AIR application with no server needed. That solution would be my absolute last resort. And I’m not sure having one IP impersonate dozens (or hundreds) of authenticated users would be a good idea - a Twitter staffer may flag my application as being abusive if I were to do that.

API v1.1 now has [node:363]. It replaces v1’s [node:14397] method and is rate limited at 15 requests per 15 minutes.

It’s especially useful for those who implement [node:6345], as User Streams does not “respect” the user’s retweet preferences when streaming retweets.

The information you get when you call the “/application/rate_limit_status”, information “POST / saved_searches/destroy/:id” has been added, also API system POST method, similar to the API system GET method future are you such a limit?

I have an application working with the Twitter API just fine. One of the developers of the application has recently departed and I want to change the OAuth Access Tokens that Twitter generated originally for the application. I have logged into the dev.twitter.com, clicked on “My applications”, select the specific application name, click on the tab “Details”, and click the link button at bottom of that web page named “Recreate my access token”.

A message appears confirming the changes have occurred and may take a few moments to display. I wait, wait, wait, refresh the page, the tokens do not change. I’ve tried this process numerous times now with the same result.

What am I doing incorrect? How do I change the Access tokens for this application?

At this time, to regenerate the access token when a permission level hasn’t changed, you should first revoke access to the token on twitter.com/settings/applications and then either renegotiate using OAuth or using button on dev.twitter.com

I don’t want to revoke the application’s access to the twitter account or change the permission level.

I only want to generate a new OAuth Access Token and OAuth Access Token Secret. Must I revoke the application’s access just to generate new access tokens?
