Hello!
Our team has submitted similar topic before (here), but a) since it was left without any reply and b) since we’re repeatedly having this issue on our end, we’re submitting it again.
As written here, we should be able to retrieve last 30 days of data for Direct messages - however, we have use cases where only last couple of days are retrieved - we’d like to understand why this happens. Could the reason be that valid tokens don’t allow to fetch DMs made after the creation date of the tokens themselves?
Thanks for your help.

This is an important question, up!
Hello. Could you please get back to us with some feedback? Why we’re left without any response, for weeks, please?

Can we get some response, please?
We need someone from Twitter to get in touch with us, please.
The RESTful Direct Message API for reading messages is generally designed as a fill-in and read back for times when the Account Activity API has not been able to provide full fidelity. That’s not an excuse in relation to this thread, but intended to provide a little more context on how things were built. Clearly there are several comments here that there may be an ongoing issue.
There seem to be multiple reports across these threads of the depth / timescale of history not matching expectations. Are there any common themes?
- are these only on specific accounts, or on all accounts authenticated to the app?
- are these limited to a capped number of Direct Message conversations, or to a specific look back date? i.e. is the app able to retrieve (say) 100 messages for a user, independent of date, or is the app only able to go back 10 days, no matter how many messages are there in that date range?
I’m not super familiar with the Direct Message endpoints but if we can start to narrow down some of these questions it will help with an investigation. Thanks!
(I completely recognise that these threads have not had the attention they could have had, and we apologise for that)
