Agg! This thing is takin’ a lota time! I can’t even meet the deadlines! Why must twitter be this complicated? All of a sudden we have restrictions! Twitter used to be simple, cool and time saving!

And now twitter is probably the most tiring/complicated/time-assuming! And causes lots of head ache’s!

Back to back! Why are you jealous? Because we have more followers than? Haibo! twitter is sick! And I’m sick of it!

#PureBoring!

Hey man, We Sick Of This Limits okey?

@twitter who ever implemented this limit is probably tha Most Disliked mofacker in tha whole world! I don’t like him! And if I ever know him! I will block him!

#WeSoSickWithIt

Ok, I understand.

Is there a good write up available for researchers who are using the API and doing social network analysis? I have been doing a bunch of high level work related to abuse detection and interdiction, and I want to make sure I am following the rules of the road.

I am doing stuff like …

  1. Capture tweets from select accounts in a given in-group, extract mentions, keep timestamped counts. We’re using this to created force directed graphs with time weighted links, so we can see who is active in discussion at a given time.

  2. Capture latest 3,200 tweets from a number of accounts, scrub them, the apply natural language processing for author attribution. Some of the most aggressive abuse problems out there are group accounts where it’s easy to guess members of the group operating it, but hard to pin down exactly which ones are producing the content.

  3. As soon as I showed the ability to bulk screen capture tweets based on keywords, like mentions of a name, I had two requests to produce content that was going straight to law enforcement.

  4. Capture all available tweets for a given in-group, massage them so the timestamps are easily handled, leading to zip files which researchers then upload to SplunkStorm, a machine data indexing application. This is done for the sake of time slicing content and doing compound searches for various keywords.

This work will eventually morph into more general use, opinion tracking and such, but for the moment it’s getting a serious workout in regards to abusive accounts. Since Twitter is having so much trouble in this area I would hope we get some latitude, but it would be nice to see the details of how similar efforts have been viewed.

anyone looking for funny character on your twitter account? I just created a list @munchung81/one for your reference. Tribute to @jack my mentor @app_engine @mattcutts @pranavmistry and my partner at hong kong @ggchao

por favor! vuel a activarlo

I would love to know why my app and my twitter account were suspended. I didnt break any of the guidlines that i could see and i read the rules over 20 times now. its really not fair that you guys suspend people/apps without really telling them why. How do you expect people not to do things again by simply banning them? they need to know WHY so that they know what not to do.

Grata

What a weird and strange conversation you are having here !!!

The ideal that TWITTER itself is not AUTOMATED is INSANE people !!!

And twitter needs to think back to the days when you needed to “PROGRAM” in order to even get online !!!

EVERYTHING about Twitter is an automation, or an effect due to automation, of a PROGRAM, call it an API [ means something like AUTOMATED PROGRAMMING INTERFACE or something like that ] or HTML, or ASP, or PHP, or anything you like, but the ENTIRE INTERNET is an AUTOMATED PROGRAM [ ie, HTTP//www - what the heck is that, when it is not something to automate communicating with the rest of the world without having to PROGRAM TONS OF CODE YOURSELF EACH TIME YOU WANT TO GO ONLINE !!! ] … in fact I would go further and say YOUR ENTIRE COMPUTER WITH ITS GUI [ GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE ] and programs like GOOGLE CHROME or INTERNET EXPLORER are all automated programs.

Now please people people people - GET REAL HERE OK !!!

The policy of not allowing some program to follow back MULTIPLE people at once, rather than working your way down a LIST of multiple people and CLICKING, is insane and utter nonsense.

Do not go down this path and ruin twitter, there is a wonderful post on this thread earlier that describes how people and business has “highjacked” twitter for its own needs, providing support services to other people that explains clearly why this change rankles and it untenable.

I would lastly like to deal with the “AUTOMATION” of this process your hoping and trying to restrict itself, your simply saying I can click a button [ an automated process in teh background itself isn’t it?] and approve one person [ or follow back as you name it - it is a name one must learn and understand to know the process you yourselves have set up isn’t it ??? ] at a time, working my way down a list, but if I click the “ALL” button on th e top of my list that’s bad right ???

SERIOUSLY !!!

IF I wanted to delete or move all my emails from my inbox, [ or from an automated search for one type of email ] I simply DO IT, and that includes whether or not I click one at a time, or click the “ALL” button, then do it.

The same principle applies.

If you stop this process from being allowed . you have simply NEUTERED your system.

WHY WOULD ANY SANE WEBSITE DO THIS ???

END OF !

I refer to this post here “@fswireUK Cynan Rhodes
In regulated environments such as financial services, we are limited as to how the user can interact with social data. As such we’d like to propose a some minor changes in how Tweets can be displayed http://blog.ftsee.com/2013/07/23/proposal-for-displaying-tweets-in-a-regulated-environment/

Your a bit of a NZAI aren’t you dude !

The nerve of people like you is unbelievable, you spout your analy retenative garbage onto the make believe world your insane sycophantic rule based heirarchies are trying to create and expect the rest of us not to want to be sick !!!

I agree, my account was suspended recently, with instructions on how to unsuspend fair enough, but I never really knew which website or program or instruction I Was using caused this to happen, I still don’t as a matter of fact, which is why I am on here trying to get to grips with any “changes” that twitter have imposed and sites and programs have not implemented yet.

When I signup and pay for something I obviously do not expect “unexepected” things to happen, the investment in time and money means that this type of thing simply makes me want to spend my time and money on something “safer” and less prone to being locked out or suspended.

My frustration at not being even able to SEE my own ticket to support is great, trying to open a new one just results in it being closed automatically as one is already open on that topic [ fair enough ] but it would be less frustrating to me to see a more traditional link to my support ticket so I can add things to it or view replies, without needing to login to my full email box and trawl through lots of emails to find it each time.

Hi,

It’s not clear for me if we need the prior written approval to market our solution.

In the document Developer Rules of the Road (https://dev.twitter.com/terms/api-terms) at point I. 4. A define with need to prior written approval
(…A. sell, rent, lease, sublicense, redistribute, or syndicate access to the Twitter API or Twitter Content to any third party without prior written approval from Twitter.
• If you provide downloadable datasets of Twitter Content or an API that returns Twitter Content, you may only return IDs (including tweet IDs and user IDs).
• You may provide spreadsheet or PDF files or other export functionality via non¬-programmatic means, such as using a “save as” button, for up to 100,000 public Tweets and/or User Objects per user per day. Exporting Twitter Content to a datastore as a service or other cloud based service, however, is not permitted. …)

Can help to clarify when is necessary this approval?

Many Thanks,
Christian Rovira

Hi Christian -

If you could file a new ticket at https://support.twitter.com/forms/platform by selecting “I have an API policy question not covered by these points,” and give us a complete explanation of your service, our team can evaluate it for compliance.

Generally though, selling, renting, etc. access to the Twitter API or Twitter Content is not allowed, and we would not provide you with authorization to do so (written or otherwise). If you were found to be doing so your API access would be revoked.

I hope this helps.
