I requested a developer account in January. I didn’t receive any email about this, but came back to check on the status, and see that my request for a developer account has been denied.
Is there anyone here that can help me understand what the problem was? I am happy to abide by any rules. The primary reason for my application was for self directed learning. Many of the fields I stated that I didn’t have specific plans for that type of app, but would be interested in learning about it. I’m concerned that my application was denied because I am interested in learning about all use cases within the twitter rules, and this may have been misinterpreted as that I am interested in use cases outside the rules.
Any advice on what use cases ARE approved, and what use cases aren’t would be helpful. I’d like to try again, and, again, am quite happy to stay within the rules. If use cases outside the rules are listed in the application, and it is the developers responsibility to have a thorough understanding of the rules before even applying, that would be useful to know. I’m happy to spend however much time is necessary studying the rules first, before applying, if that is what is necessary and the application is actually a quiz of sorts about what is or isn’t allowed. I assumed that if the use case was described in the application, it was allowed.

@jessicagarson you replied to an earlier topic I posted asking for some helping moving the process along. I hope I’m not misunderstanding etiquette here by mentioning you here. I apologize for missing your reply to my earlier thread, but it looks like notifications from this portal don’t necessarily make it past the gmail spam filter.
Any help or guidance here would be appreciated. I am just interested in exploring what can be done with twitter apps, and am happy to abide by any limitations. I hope that I will be allowed to try again and with some guidance on what use cases are approved, I will be able to open a twitter developer account, go through a self-teaching process, and make a useful app that will contribute something positive to the community.
Thanks, @mentalplex. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot I can say here.
All of our developer applications are reviewed to ensure compliance with the Twitter policy. While we can’t comment on specific cases, applications may be rejected if they are found to violate any section of the Developer Agreement and Policy, Automation Rules, Display Requirements, and/or the Twitter Rules.
Additional information on restricted uses of Twitter APIs is available here.
There is currently no way to edit a rejected application or re-apply, however stay informed for product updates/changes. We are starting to look into a way to reapply for the future.
There are several existing topics on the matter. I’m going to close this one as it is a duplicate.
