Developer account can't be added

I’m trying to add a developer to our company’s twitter account, but I keep getting strange errors like:

Error sending invitation
Invalid data received, could not process request

Any ideas? It’s really confusing and there is no clear reason why we can’t add a new dev to the app.

I have seen that error occur before with this beta, can you send a screenshot or the url of the page you’re on? Also, are you referring to adding a team member with the autofill @handle? You could try to manually type out/add without the autofill, or check the account privacy settings. I assume a refresh or retry doesn’t work?

Error looks like this:

We have disabled privacy and had the main account follow the developer’s account. Neither of those should make a difference but I wanted to have all the bases covered!

I’ll try the manual addition asap (holiday weeks are tough). Thanks!

Did the manual add work for you? Also, is the user you’re trying to add already a member on their own or another premium account?

No, manually typing it in did not work! We are getting:

Error sending invitation
Invalid data received

The main account is approved for premium but the developer account is still waiting for approval. Could that be the issue?

This could be the reason, at this time with the beta there’s isn’t a way to have a developer/admin role in multiple accounts. Are both accounts needed for your use case?

Yes we need both. The main account is a corporate account with a fairly high number of followers. We want to hand out read-only access to a developer without giving them access to the main account. I’d imagine that’s a common use case.

Can the premium access for the dev account be accelerated? Any idea who I talk to? Thanks

I think the order of operations (protection/application etc) is the issue here. We are resetting the @handle you are trying to add now, can you make sure:

• The @handle developer has a confirmed email address
• The @handle developer is not protected
• The @handle developer has not applied for their own account

Hello, I am not the original poster but I registered to report the same issue.

What happens is that if you send out an invite for someone to be a developer/admin, then revoke the invite, it spits out that error when you try to send the invite again. I am trying to resend it to my app’s twitter account (@socialhodl) as our custom domain email wasn’t configured correctly the first time

To test this I sent an invite to another account (@shiny_ampharos), cancelled the invite, and now I can’t resend one.

Seems to add the accounts to something that acts as a kind of blacklist?

May you please reset the 2 handles I mentioned above? Thank you

EDIT: I have tried changing the twitter account I’m trying to add’s username, sadly this does not work. Looks like the bug currently operates a ‘once-per-account-id’ strategy

Sorry no, gave up. Never got it to work. Just went with different permissions setup.

Hi @nathan_grep - revoking an invite triggers a 24 hour wait period before you are able to send an invite to the developer again. After a day or so were you able to re-send the invite? I’ve also added an FAQ post here: Troubleshooting tips for dev account team members
